in admiration of unique, naive, and quality home furniture
a homeroom exploration of three material systems: online industrial, local lumber, and hobby consumerism. Organized as functional objects, the collection both legitimizes homemade, consumer grade materials as a market grade lamp while also reappropriating architectural aluminum as both structure and point of connection.
In pursuit of shaping localized and personal engagement with our work, homeroom is dedicated to documenting with complete transparency the material streams, fabricators, and third party entities behind each item. From a lamp made from consumer grade products and techniques, to a chair made of architectural grade aluminum channels, we seek to challenge the hyperconsumption and rigid material pallete of the contemporary furniture economy. And in turn, find meaningful modes of distributing ideas and designs.
